(포탈뉴스통신) 주한네덜란드상공회의소(DBCK)와 남아프리카공화국상공회의소(SAFCHAM)는 지난 5월 28일 서울 용산 소재 Sauce 레스토랑에서 글로벌 네트워킹 행사 ‘Lekkere Borrel’을 개최했다.

 

이번 행사는 다양한 국적의 기업 관계자와 글로벌 커뮤니티 구성원들이 함께한 자리로, 단순한 비즈니스 네트워킹을 넘어 ESG 가치 실현과 사회공헌의 의미를 더했다.

 

특히 이번 행사에는 공익법인 Street to Home이 참여해 구조동물 지원을 위한 Charity Raffle Fundraising 프로그램을 운영했으며, 참가자들의 자발적인 참여를 통해 모금된 후원금은 구조동물들의 건강과 복지 향상을 위해 사용될 예정이다.

 

행사에는 반려동물 전문기업 내추럴코어(Natural Core)가 동참해 고양이 사료, 강아지 패드, 간식 등 다양한 후원 물품을 지원하며 구조동물 보호 활동에 힘을 보탰다. 또한 협력 동물병원은 길고양이 중성화 수술(TNR) 지원을 통해 지역사회와 동물이 함께 공존할 수 있는 환경 조성에 참여했다.

 

 

 

Street to Home은 구조 활동뿐 아니라 동물생명존중 교육, 책임 있는 반려문화 정착, 유기동물 및 믹스견에 대한 인식 개선 활동을 통해 대한민국의 동물복지 수준과 시민의식을 선진국 수준으로 발전시키기 위한 다양한 캠페인을 진행하고 있다.

이번 행사는 기업, 국제 커뮤니티, 공익법인, 의료기관이 함께 협력하여 사회적 가치를 창출한 대표적인 ESG 사례로 평가받고 있다.

 

행사를 주최한 Andreas Varkevisser 주한네덜란드상공회의소 회장은 “이번 행사는 글로벌 비즈니스 커뮤니티가 사회적 책임을 함께 실천한 뜻깊은 자리였다”며 “앞으로도 지역사회와 상생할 수 있는 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 지속적으로 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

 

 

 

이어 Street to Home의 Alicia Song 이사장은 “유기동물 문제는 단순히 동물만의 문제가 아니라 한 사회의 생명존중 의식과 시민문화를 보여주는 지표”라며 “선진국 수준의 동물복지와 성숙한 반려문화를 정착시키기 위해 교육과 인식개선 활동을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

 

또한 내추럴코어 관계자는 “글로벌 비즈니스 커뮤니티와 함께 의미 있는 ESG 활동에 참여하게 되어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “앞으로도 일회성 후원에 그치지 않고 동물복지 향상과 생명존중 문화 확산을 위한 사회공헌 활동을 지속적으로 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

 

 

 

한편 Street to Home은 2024년 공익법인으로 지정된 이후 구조동물 보호 활동과 함께 어린이 동물생명존중 교육, 책임 있는 반려문화 정착 캠페인, 유기동물 및 믹스견에 대한 인식 개선 활동을 지속적으로 펼치고 있다.

Natural Core, Global Business Community and Street to Home Promote Advanced Animal Welfare Through ESG Initiatives

- Businesses, International Community and Nonprofit Organization Collaborate to Advance Animal Welfare Awareness and ESG Values

 

The Dutch Business Council Korea (DBCK) and the South African Chamber of Commerce in Korea (SAFCHAM) successfully hosted the joint networking event Lekkere Borrel on May 28 at Sauce Restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul.

 

Bringing together business professionals and community members from diverse nationalities, the event went beyond traditional networking by highlighting ESG values and meaningful social contribution initiatives.

 

As part of the event, public-interest nonprofit organization Street to Home organized a Charity Raffle Fundraising program to support rescued animals. Funds raised through voluntary participation from attendees will be used to improve the health and welfare of rescued cats and dogs.

 

Pet food company Natural Core also joined the initiative by donating cat food, dog pads, treats, and other essential supplies, providing valuable support for animal welfare efforts. In addition, partner veterinary clinics contributed by supporting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs for community cats, helping promote harmonious coexistence between animals and local communities.

 

Beyond rescue activities, Street to Home actively conducts educational and awareness programs focused on respect for life, responsible pet ownership, and improving public perceptions of abandoned and mixed-breed animals. The organization aims to help elevate Korea’s animal welfare standards and civic awareness to the level of leading countries around the world.

 

The event is being recognized as an exemplary ESG collaboration in which corporations, international business communities, nonprofit organizations, and veterinary professionals worked together to create meaningful social impact.

 

Andreas Varkevisser, Chairman of the Dutch Business Council Korea, stated, “This event was a meaningful opportunity for the global business community to put social responsibility into action. Alicia Song, Chairperson of Street to Home, added, “The issue of abandoned animals is not merely an animal welfare issue; it reflects a society’s respect for life and level of civic consciousness. Since being designated as a public-interest nonprofit organization in 2024, Street to Home has continued to lead animal rescue efforts while promoting humane education for children, responsible pet ownership campaigns, and public awareness initiatives aimed at improving perceptions of abandoned and mixed-breed animals.
